Who Needs Big Media? Not These Journalists.

The Wall Street Journal reports on journalists jumping ship for Web ventures:
“Two prominent Washington Post political reporters are leaving the newspaper to join a new Web-focused venture, underscoring how new media is stealing talent from some of the most venerable brands in journalism.”
Why did they do it?
“They were intrigued by our idea of using the Web and the notion of covering politics in a nontraditional way.”
As veterans leave the established media world to strike out on their one, a new generation of reporters doesn’t see a need to do it any other way.
“When people in the television news business want to find out what’s going on in their industry, they turn to a blog called TVNewser. But while the executives obsessively checking TVNewser are mostly high powered and highly paid, the person who creates it is not: he is Brian Stelter, a baby-faced 21-year-old at Towson University here, a few miles north of Baltimore.”
