A Smarter Search Engine

Alex Iskold of Read/Write Web takes a look at the search engine called Clusty. Their differentiator is that they “cluster” search results, meaning they group like items together.

For example, I own an Oracle Delphi turntable. You can imagine how careful I have to be when searching on this, with so many other non-related search results. When I search for Oracle Delphi on Clusty, I am given the option to view results that have been grouped together. Sure enough, I am given the option of ‘turntable,’ among others, and can then view just the relevant results.

This is great in concept, but I am only given 10 results within that category. There should be thousands of pages on this topic. Anyhow, an interesting take on search, as we progress to a smarter search engine.
