Why the Internet is Good for Traditional Media

“…we believe Internet companies that enable and promote revenue generation from their content should be viewed as critical allies of, not necessarily competitors to, traditional media companies.”

Om Malik shows us the sheer size of social networks, with MySpace alone generating 38 billion page views last month with 127,572,933 members.

Paul Conley finds the happy balance for magazine publishers on the web via XXL magazines website. Three of the things he feels they are doing right:

  • hire outside experts to blog on your site;
  • use Flash for your video; and
  • avoid overlapping your Web and print content.
