About

My name is Dan Blank, and I founded We Grow Media in 2009. I help writers build their platforms, and work with publishers to grow their online communities.

For Writers: I offer online training classes and one on one consulting. Currently, I am teaching an intensive 8-week online course called Build Your Author Platform. I also teach Blogging 101 for Writers Digest University. More classes will be launched later in the year.

I have trained hundreds of writers to grow their online content and marketing skills. I work individually with writers and authors to help develop their brand and tap into communities in meaningful ways.

For Publishers: I offer consulting services on the following topics: content strategy, online marketing, branding, social media, community building, web analytics, and search engine optimization.

A bit more about my experience:

  • I spent 3 years designing a series of unpublished pop up books. (Now squirreled away, like the Ark at the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark.)
  • In college, I grew deeply in debt to publish my own music magazine. (And loved every minute of it.)
  • I’ve managed an independent bookstore. (Spending hours scurrying through donated books, looking for gold.)
  • I interned at Rutgers University Press, watching how books get made. (if not exactly sold.)
  • In college, I was a radio DJ (and realized it involved sitting alone in a cement room for hours at a time).
  • In high school, I wrote a book of poems that was made out of wood and sheet metal. (it now collects dust in my childhood room in my parent’s house.)
  • I graduated from Rutgers University’s School of Communication, Information and Library Science.

PS 123:
In 2003, I began a partnership with PS 123, an elementary school in Harlem. Since that time, I have helped plan dozens of events with the students, always focused on publishing, literacy and communication. Currently, I am the advisor for their student newspaper. PS 123 is an amazing community, and I am amazed at the incredible work of the faculty, parents and students.
