Hey Melinda! I agree about there being too many new services and networks. The think about Facebook is this:

It has hit mainstream.

If you want to connect with folks from your past and present: non-techies, Facebook seems to be the place to do it.

Twitter I enjoy, but mostly because it filters into my Facebook Status Update and other services like Friendfeed. It is pretty amazing to see how people you follow become very 3-dimensional as you experience there life as it happens.

Hi Dan,
Interesting post — makes me want to do the same.

I’ve signed up for a few of these social networking sites, but know they’re all starting to look alike in my mind. So before i sign up for another one, i want to know: what makes facebook so special?

And what about Twitter? valuable mobile networking resource or just another Internet time-suck?

Good Stuff. I am inspired and know others are too. I was recently asked “what is branding?”… It was a direct question… maybe a test. I explained branding as creating a message that expresses your passion, your vision… You said brands are ideals. Well dang… that;s sort of the same thing…!!! Thanks for confirming my definition of a hard to describe modern day catch phrase. I have tagged your blog.
